We couldn’t have asked for a better morning for our herbal adventure in Daisy Nook on Saturday! We left the car park in good spirits and having started the exploration with the edible picnic shelf, progressed through the Beech Grove with its heady scent of wild garlic, down past the rosebay willow herb making its mark on the waste ground and paused next to the river for a spot of nature journalling. Feeling revived after a ‘knockout’ infusion and snack, we passed through hawthorns weighted down with blossom, along the side of the canal – catching sight of some reassuringly identifiable giant hogweed – and meandered through the meadow.
